Job Description

METKA EGN Spain, a utility-scale world class EPC, is seeking experienced Engineering Manager to join its construction team. The engineering manager is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the construction activities, project engineering team and subcontractors to ensure timely, within budget and according to design completion of the project. The successful candidate would lead various projects across several teams to help create processes and execute strategies to ensure projects are developed in a timely manner. Ultimately, you will work closely with different teams to ensure projects are completed according to schedule and budget, being the bridge of communication with our Engineering offices.

  • Provide clear and concise instructions to engineering teams
  • Lead research and development projects that produce new designs, products, and processes.
  • Check their team’s work for technical accuracy
  • Coordinate work with other managers and staff
Responsibilities
  • Studies and understands each project’s design provided by the engineering headquarters. Crosschecks and finds possible errors and reports to the PM and CD.
  • Studies and understands the Bill of Materials provided by the engineering headquarters. Crosschecks quantities and finds possible errors and reports to the PM and CD.
  • Reports in writing on a daily and weekly basis about the project’s progress.
  • Reports verbally on a daily basis to the PM and CD regarding the progress and the materials received.
  • Writes and communicates with the subcontractors regarding the delivery plan.
  • Directs and supervises the Project Engineering team on a daily basis.
  • Determines labor requirements and dispatches engineers according to the project needs.
  • Overviews each subcontractor’s installation work quality and the precision to the design. Reports to the Project Manager with evidence every time there is a quality breach.
  • Overviews, inspects and verifies the quality and quantities all main material deliveries. For the completion of this process he needs to crosscheck the BOM-order placed- transportation documentation and suppliers contract.
  • Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans
  • Finds local supplies. Receives at least three offers for each material and reports to the PM. Negotiates prices and contract changes with subcontractors and local suppliers.
  • Arranges all deliveries with local suppliers in collaboration with Procurement and Logistics departments.
  • Ensures the existence of necessary permits and licenses for the construction works. Monitors compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations.
  • Implements the project quality control program
  • Investigates damages, accidents or delays at the site, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.
  • Provides all final documentation that concerns site-specific duties and deliveries.

Requirements

Education Requirements

  • University Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineer)
  • Excellent use of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel)
  • Advanced use of AutoCAD software

Knowledge Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience as an Engineering Manager or similar role
  • Must have experience in Solar Power Plant construction
  • Experience in Solar Power Plant construction in Spain is considered an advantage
  • Analytical skills for evaluating information carefully and solving complex problems
  • Communication skills for overseeing staff and working with other management personnel
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to catch minor errors which can result in major problems
  • Math skills, including calculus and other advanced mathematics
  • Organizational skills for keeping track of various budgets, employees, and schedules simultaneously
  • Relevant training and/or certifications as an Engineering Manager

Working Conditions
