Job Description

Dentons is currently recruiting for a Global AML Analyst who will be responsible for assisting the Global AML team. The role will support the Global AML Team and assist in ensuring effective client and matter risk controls are in place and operate across the full range of practice areas within the firm globally. The role will report to the Global Business Acceptance Manager and the Global Head of AML. The role will involve work across a broad range of risk management and compliance issues with a particular focus on sanctions monitoring and review, and will be internally focused supporting the firm.

Requirements

Key responsibilities:

  • Conducting sanctions screening and analysing search results within the appropriate internal and external databases.
  • Maintaining a database of information about firm clients and related parties.
  • Conducting Client Due Diligence (CDD).
  • Assessing the risks of new clients and matters, including advising on AML obligations, bribery, sanctions, professional ethical obligations, engagement terms and inter-office working arrangements, sanctions and reputational risks.
  • High Risk Client and PEP review and assessment.
  • Assessing compliance with applicable regulations, rules and policies.
  • Taking ownership of all stages of the matter opening process and escalating any issues as necessary.
  • Assisting the Global Business Acceptance Manager and Global Head of AML projects and ad hoc assignments as required.
  • Reviewing and adhering to Dentons’ internal compliance policies and procedures.

Technical Skills:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A high level of proficiency (written and spoken) in the English language is necessary. We are a truly global law firm and as such, always welcome hearing from those with foreign language capabilities. Mandarin language fluency would be particularly advantageous.
  • Relevant legal or compliance experience preferably acquired in an international law firm, although other professional services or financial services firms will be considered. We also welcome applications from those that want to pursue a career in risk and compliance that may not have direct legal or compliance experience.
  • A good knowledge of relevant compliance rules and regulations, including (but not limited to) anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering and sanctions.
  • Highly effective research skills using all relevant information sources, including IT resources and ability to use them to their full potential.
  • Able to assemble research and produce clear and accurate findings.
  • Experience with industry standard conflict applications preferred (for example, Intapp Open, Legalkey, Aderant).
  • PC literate with a good working knowledge of MS office, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Can demonstrate initiative and must be able to work independently.
  • Able to be an ambassador for Dentons, being professional in outlook and attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience of operating in a multi-cultural environment.
