Job Description
World Central Kitchen, Inc. (WCK) seeks a talented and committed Senior Manager, Europe to directly lead our regional relief activation team in Europe which includes the Culinary, Distribution, Community Outreach, and Procurement/Logistics Managers. Part of a growing and geographically dispersed Relief Operations team, the successful candidate must possess a sincere desire to be an innovative contributor in this new role, thrive in a dynamic and challenging environment, and have a demonstrated ability for being effective functionally and strategically.
This role will report to the Director of Relief Operations and work closely with other Senior Managers. This role requires a sincere commitment to WCK’s mission, frequent and occasionally extended international travel, including to activations, and flexibility for cultural, language, and time zone differences. This position is intended to be Madrid, Spain, within one hour of Barajas airport, and the successful candidate must have a Spanish DNI or NIE and be registered with Seguridad Social.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Deploy, as needed, within eight hours to a Disaster Area/Emergency Response
- Lead and develop Unit Managers to ensure effective relief operations including with staffing, training, systems, inventory, safety, and program management
- Develop and implement effective solutions in collaboration with WCK leaders and departments
- Develop and maintain effective external relationships before and during activations
- Remotely support and coordinate tasks, activities, planning, operations, and special projects
- Accurately report on operations and disaster news and trends internally and externally as directed
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures for operational efficiency and financial controls
- Maintain required certifications such as ServSafe Food Safety, CPR, and Forklift Operator
- Operate and thrive in stressful, fast-paced situations with positivity and patience while displaying genuine compassion for those in crisis
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant management experience managing deployed relief teams
- Demonstrated ability to strategically build relationships in new environments
- Demonstrated ability as a leader in remote and in-person working environments
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial skills in challenging untraditional environments
- Demonstrated advanced cross-cultural communication and leadership skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in Google, Microsoft Office, and relevant management programs
- Ability to travel, including internationally, quickly and on short notice, for extended periods of time
- Valid Driver’s license and passport
- Fluency in English and proficiency in Spanish and/or French (spoken and written)
- Current employment authorization and tax residency for Spain
- Ability for extended physical exertion during an activation
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless a reasonable accommodation is requested and approved
Preferred candidates will also have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field from an internationally recognized university; fluency in Spanish or French; prior experience with WCK; and experience in high-volume catering or similar operations.
