What does a Senior Backend Engineer do at Busuu?
You’ll be able to design, implement, test and deploy software solutions and workflows, that have direct impact in the core of B2B business.
You’ll have the opportunity to be at the centre of our biggest and most exciting phase yet. We’re building back-end services for: user authentication, public APIs, data-exchange integrations or data-driven reports generation.
That will help you grow and define your career as a Software Engineer.
You’ll be learning fast through different initiatives (guilds, learning together meetings, personal learning budget), and keeping up with the latest industry standards.
Our tech stack
- Our projects are built on a distributed platform composed of different API services.
- We are focusing on services built with NodeJS with TS.
- Some of our backend services are built with PHP 7/8 and Symfony - this is the legacy, we want to replace with your help.
- Services are built, following best coding standards and design patterns such as: hexagonal architecture and Domain Driven Design (with an event-driven architecture).
What we’re looking for in a Senior Backend Engineer
- Expert knowledge and experience in object-oriented programming. Specific knowledge in NodeJS (having experience with PHP is a plus).
- Proficient in data modelling and performance optimisation using relational databases.
- Good understanding of API design, RESTFul, SOLID principles.
- Experience with queuing systems and event-driven architecture is a plus.
- Experience in defining the whole process of development, from initial design to deployment and support.
- Experience with testing methodologies.
- Familiar with Scrum work environments.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Desire to learn.
