Project management plays a crucial role in supporting efficient workflows, and we now have an exciting opportunity to join our team as Head of Legal Project Management. In this role, you will be working with the Europe Innovation and Knowledge team and other stakeholders across Europe and other regions.
Your mission will be to drive the transformation of legal service delivery by assisting lawyers to adopt best practices in, and technology solutions for project management. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is skilled in project management and passionate about improving the delivery of legal services.
Responsibilities
Strategic development of Legal Project Management (LPM), particularly for transactions
- A unique opportunity to help shape the LPM offering as part of ‘Dentons Delivery’ for Dentons Europe and to develop the offering particularly in the transactional areas
- Develop and implement LPM standards for processes, toolkit, and guidelines to assist Dentons Europe in developing a consistent, default approach to LPM for fee earners when they are managing legal matters
- Help develop service delivery models for key work types, comprising technology relevant to the matter, and help embed them
- Develop the LPM team capability and build a team of dedicated LPMs, lead a ‘center of excellence’ for local PMs
- Assist in educating fee earners in the benefits of LPM and adopting its principles to include providing internal training, mentoring, and coaching to embed the principles throughout the firm
Developing the transaction management tech portfolio with the Legal Engineering Team
- Help to develop work type specific matter management templates in HighQ
- Help to identify and implement new legal technology solutions internally and externally to facilitate improved efficiency and enhanced client experience
Head LPM support on key matters
- Manage more junior legal engineers, LPMs, and/or local project managers taking responsibility for oversight and quality control of outputs. Where there is demand for it or sufficient complexity, take on the role as lead LPM on a matter
- Assisting partners and the business development team in pitches where LPM is a key differentiator
Requirements
- Significant experience of working in a professional services firm (law firms, large accountancy practices or consulting businesses).
- Experience in legal project management of client matters and projects in a law firm and/or an alternative legal services provider company is an advantage
- Detailed knowledge of project management of legal matters acquired through hands on experience is an advantage
- Good understanding of legal technology solutions is an advantage
- Experience of leading a project management team
- In-depth knowledge of project management with a change management mind-set and experience
- PM/programme management qualifications or have extensive experience of working within formal project and programme processes
- Ability to build effective working relationships quickly with excellent influencing and communication skills with the ability to sell LPM to an audience with limited understanding
- Good expertise in providing external presentations and internal trainings with clear presentational style
