The Opportunity
As a member of the Reliability Operations team, you will be working with experienced engineers, technicians, and program managers to shape the next generation of Sunfolding products. You will be working on continuing to evolve Sunfolding's tracker technology as we look to continue to drive lower cost solar installations in the United States.In this role, you will use your creativity, and hands on fabrication and assembly experience to help create solutions that allow our customers to take solar projects on a smarter path to profitability. You will be charged with maintaining the safety and functionality of our fabrication shop, while assisting the team by fabricating and assembling a variety of products.Responsibilities- Shop Operations and Fabrication
- Maintain shop and facility organization, cleanliness and safety
- Maintain equipment and ensure inspections are conducted regularly
- Enforce a shop safety and shop use policy
- Create and deliver shop training for relevant internal teams
- Identify equipment needs and requirements
- Source new and replacement equipment
- Oversee and manage build area
- Monitor to ensure established guidelines for a safe shop environment are met to achieve compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations
- Read and understand product schematics and assembly instructions.
- Take part in product development meetings both in person and via ZOOM.
- Verify dimensions and product specifications.
- Ensure that all parts are properly fitted, aligned and attached to torque specifications.
- Ensure that quality control standards are met.
- Maintain a production schedule.
- Test products for their functionality, reproducibility and material constraints.
- Troubleshoot and stress test products to minimize problems or rework.
- Report and detail product malfunctions, material failures or tooling difficulties.
- Adhere to assembly and building safety standards.
- Product Development Team Support
- Support engineers with validation of new parts
- Set up and run part characterization following guidance on tests
- Support physical assembly of products during validation phase
- Design and assemble test rigs for the engineering team
- Fabricate parts in-house and at third-party shops
- Reliability amp; Test Team Support
- Build test fixtures
- Build prototypes and reworking product samples
- Run tests and collecting data
- Partner with Safety leadership on holistic office safety opportunities (i.e. fire extinguisher training, first aid training, cpr training, etc)Service and/or assembly of Sunfolding equipment for deployment to customer or test sites
Requirements- Requirements:
- 7+ years experience in a fabrication / shop environment
- 3+ years operating a fabrication / machine shop
- Resourceful and well connected with other shops and materials providers in proximity to our Headquarters office
- Organized and skillful in managing schedules, monitoring inventory, tracking deliverables and communicating with stakeholders
- Ability to assess equipment for suitability for Sunfolding
- Required fabrication skills: Capable of operating lathe, mill, press, brake, band saw, and other various shop tools.
- Bonus: Experience with Water Jet, welding, laser cutter, and other specialized fabrication equipment.
- Strong computer skills including GSuite, word processing and spreadsheets, and internal communications platforms such as Slack.
