Job Description

The mission of Penumbra’s Manufacturing Engineering group is to provide robust solutions that commercialize new products and support continuous improvement in production. An Associate Director of Manufacturing Engineering will lead a team to support process development and engineering efforts within Penumbra product manufacturing. This leader will enable successful introduction of new products in to manufacturing, generate and deliver upon project opportunities designed to enhance manufacturability of Penumbra products, and increase internal knowledge and capabilities within a fast-paced environment.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:• Provide vetted recommendations to leadership on approaches and strategies.• Execute manufacturing engineering strategies both individually and through team of individual contributors and managers.• Ensure initiatives are aligned with the business objectives and strategic philosophy.• Provide engineering expertise to address issues as required.• Manage departmental groups and maintain adequate staffing to ensure fulfillment of goals and objectives. • Provide leadership and guidance, hiring, coaching and professional development of managers and manufacturing engineers.• Identify equipment, processes and technology needed to ensure optimized manufacturing practices.• Monitor and review engineering procedures, protocols, and reports.• Minimize down time of production lines. • Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs.• Adhere to the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global quality system regulations, standards, and procedures.• Ensure other members of the department follow the QMS, regulations, standards and procedures.• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
  • Minimum education and experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field with 8+ years of engineering experience, preferably in the Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, MedTech, or BioTech industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Additional qualifications:
  • 3+ years of engineering management experience required.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and communication (verbal, listening, written) skills.
  • Ability to identify, plan, execute, and monitor multiple projects.
  • Ability to understand the company vision and approach problem solving in a proactive team manner.
  • •Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead and influence technical personnel.
Working Conditions
  • General office, production, laboratories and controlled environment facility. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms, to use a computer and sit for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to read, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
