As a member of the Product Development team, you will be working with experienced engineers, technicians, and program managers to shape the next generation of Sunfolding products. You will be working on continuing to evolve Sunfolding's T29 tracker technology as we look to continue to drive lower cost solar installations in the United States. In this role, you will use your creativity and diverse range of product development and engineering experience to create solutions that allow our customers to take solar projects on a smarter path to profitability.
Description
As a Product Development Engineer, you will be charged with the design and realization of new parts and products for Sunfolding, as well as providing mentorship to the product development team. You will be a key contributor to each phase of the product development process including, formalizing requirements, concept ideation, prototyping, design validation, design for manufacture, and product testing.This position will report to the VP, EngineeringResponsibilities- Guide product development programs from concept through part approval.
- Design components for high volume manufacturing, incorporating process specific best practices, results from Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and generated part cost models.
- Design of prototypes, test equipment, plates, brackets, stands or any other peripheral items that may be needed for the program.
- Implementation, fabrication and assembly from drawings and CAD Coordination with manufacturing partners and Supply Chain,
- Program planning and cost modeling,
- Create test plans and documentation (with guidance from Reliability).
- May require the design and build of physical test equipment,
- Implementation of test plans,
- Create systems to collect, organize and store program relevant data,
- Process data and create reports to accompany a design portfolio for the product.
Requirements- 5+ years professional experience in an engineering role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience in Computer Aided Design, preferably SolidWorks
- Experience with FEAExcellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Demonstrated experience designing and achieving high volume production with one or more of the following high volume manufacturing processes including: progressive die stamping, injection molding, die casting, blow molding, roll forming, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability and desire to organize documents, data, etc. effectively
- Machine shop skills
- Preferred: Previous Experience with trackers, or fixed mount solar structure design
