Overview

Our Commercial team is responsible for i) Buying: how much to buy, when to buy, at what price; ii) Category Management: how to improve our product assortment; iii) Supply Chain: how the products get from the supplier to the stores; Revenue Strategy: how to price, promote, and place our products. The team will ultimately provide world-class account management services to our partners, looking after growth, sales, and operational excellence targets.

Responsibilities:

• Build and lead a team of +8 people to greatness - hire top talents and help them perform, grow and develop as professionals
• Devise the mid-term strategy of the Buying Fresh team in Spain, which encompasses Buying Fresh products and Category Management
• Develop Gorillas product portfolio amp; buying fresh strategy for Spain. Go down the unconventional way if you believe that’s best for the business - always acting with the user in mind: first find ways to make the customers happy, then find a way to adapt that to the reality of the business
• Optimise shelf space to maximise revenue per order
• Manage our supplier relations amp; negotiate prices with suppliers while knowing our product assortment better than anyone. Work directly with suppliers to minimise procurement costs across our assortment
• Drive strategic buying decisions across all of our markets with data-driven insights
• Work with headquarters to learn about and implement best practices from our other markets

• Perform administrative duties, and additional functions, as needed and determined by management

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in the B2C retail sector (Fresh grocery preferred), ideally working directly with suppliers. Consulting, Banking or eCommerce experience is a plus
• A strong understanding of the Italian grocery / convenience market - and a willingness to disrupt the way it currently operates
• Prior experience in building and leading buying teams
• Affinity for using data to make strategic decisions
• Ability to learn fast and adapt your strategies and tactics to the dynamic world of super-fast delivery. Super-fast delivery means sometimes doing other things super-fast.
• A desire to work in a dynamic environment at one of the fastest growing startups in Europe
• Act like an owner. We believe that’s a great driving principle
• You have a hands-on mentality and are willing to get your hands dirty
• You have very good communication skills and are proficient in both written and spoken English and Spanish
