Job Description
Sympower's mission is to enable the transition to a fully renewable energy system.
With our in-house software platform, we unlock the flexibility of electrical assets and processes: from steel smelting to solar panels, from electric vehicles to paper production. When the grid is out of balance, we temporarily adjust the power of machines and processes through our advanced and automated demand response capabilities. Flexibility is a vital component of a fully renewable energy system and by providing non-intrusive software solutions, we allow our customers to enhance the value of their electrical assets. We empower traditional industries to become more sustainable and enable the shift from fossil fuels to renewables.
We are a mission-driven, international team that is based in multiple countries. We are growing fast and have recently been recognised as one of the eleven scale-ups selected for the Techleap Rise programme, featuring tech scale-ups that are contributing to flatten the climate curve.
With its balancing markets opening up for demand response and its decarbonisation ambition, Spain is a natural country to expand to for Sympower. Sympower will be working with Barcelona-based km0.energy and Spanish energy suppliers to bring flexibility to the market.
We're looking for a passionate and talented Product Manager to shape our platform to successfully enter Spanish balancing markets with Sympower's further expansion in mind.
You will be joining our international Product team, responsible to drive feature development from its conception all the way to its launch for the Spanish market, with Sympower's further expansion in mind. Product development done for Spain will be closely related to the product development needed for further expansion in new countries with a partner go-to-market strategy.
This includes the following responsibilities:
- Understand Sympower's stakeholders need, the Spanish energy and industrial ecosystem
- Attend events and be in close relationship with grid operators and key players (regulators, ministry, associations, etc.) to be aware of and shape future market developments, pilots or tenders
- Understand Sympower's Product vision and define how to take it further via the needed Spanish product development (for example, Spanish partner customer journey to be shaped taking into account existing countries and further expansion plans)
- Translate requirements to enter balancing markets into product specifications for Sympower's engineering team
- Be the bridge between external partners, Sympower commercial team and the engineering team to make sure timelines are met and the product is developed according to requirements
- Be responsible for the product/features launch as a whole including testing with launching partner, roll out to more partners and design how the new product/feature should be packaged for them
- For the current products we offer, be responsible to define the processes around it (bidding, reporting, billing)
- Manage relationships with Sympower's go-to-market partners in Spain
- Working together with the rest of the Product team to challenge and improve the product vision and strategy and share ideas to improve our product development processes
Requirements
- 3+ years experience in Product Management in a software company
- Entrepreneurial mindset
- Background and network in Energy and/or Industrial Sector
- Proven experience in gathering and transforming business requirements into a successful product strategy including planning, creating and maintaining a product backlog and releasing subsequent versions of software products
- Mastering writing business specifications, including clear user stories and acceptance criteria
- Good communication skills combined with a technical background and strong business affinity which makes you a good bridge between the commercial team, external stakeholders and the engineering team
- Analytical and data driven to be able to define priorities and explain those to different stakeholders
- Hands-on, pragmatic and creative to be able to launch fast and iterate
- Fluent in English and Spanish (Catalan is a plus)
