We are searching for an experienced Events Manager to join our Moodle Community team! This role is responsible for delivering the logistics for the biggest event on Moodle’s calendar - our annual MoodleMoot Global conference, that sees hundreds of attendees from around the world each year.

What your new job can look like

With the pace of Moodle, no two days will ever be the same! But most days will involve a mix of:

  • Working closely with the educational events coordinator, marketing team and conference steering committee, you will project manage the planning, logistics and support required for the MoodleMoot global conference, including (but not limited to) venue requirements, accommodation, catering, scheduling, pre-conference activities, as well as social events during the conference (like the Moodle Party).
  • Negotiating with external vendors to organise event contracts, manage the event registration process and the event budget.
  • Working closely with the Marketing amp; Communications and Accounts teams to promote the event, and manage post-event activities (e.g. feedback and ROI reporting).
  • Coordinating working groups and collaborating with a variety of different departments and external stakeholders to ensure the continued success of the event, with all tasks completed on time, and within budget.

This role is based in Barcelona, Spain, and will initially be offered as a 12 month contract, focusing on leading the 2024 MoodleMoot global conference that is to be held in Mexico! We are open to both full-time and part-time applicants.

Requirements

We'd love to meet you

Especially if you can talk to us about your:

  • Exceptional communication skills, with fluency in both English and Spanish.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, global events, with a strong background in logistics and event management.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to build and maintain good relationships and coordinate activities across multiple departments, locations and time zones.
  • Ability to be highly organised and meet tight deadlines, with a strong eye for detail.
