We are a Swiss, VC-backed startup with a global reach. Our mission is to digitize the commodity trading market and become the leading platform for traders in all commodities verticals. We've already gained significant market traction and are financially backed by Venture Investors.
We're currently seeking two highly motivated Backend Engineers to become key players in our Engineering team. This is a unique opportunity for individuals who have thrived in start-up or scale-up environments and are passionate about cutting-edge technology.
About The Team
We are a fully remote company with a modern tech stack, and we strive for fast deployments to support the rapid growth we are experiencing, and this hire is key to our continued success. Our naturally diverse teams are divided into verticals, with a mix of multidisciplinary members.
About You
You are someone with strong initiative and drive that can work independently on features and projects from inception until release. You exceed in the design of technical solutions as owner and implementor, on top of reviewing designs and code from other team members.
You enjoy working alongside Senior Engineers championing initiatives to improve our code quality, maintainability, and development velocity. As part of the development sprints, you will release new features and products using quality practices such as automated testing, QA validation, and observability.
About The Tech
Our Trading Analytics platform requires processing millions of financial records per day, crunching numbers and preparing insights, and providing a delightful web and mobile experience for our customers.
We are completely deployed into AWS technologies. We do our data processing and crunching in a mix of Java, NodeJS, and Python, using frameworks such as Apache Flink and Apache Camel.
Our Frontend is powered by REST calls and web sockets. These are either persistent connections to Fargate services or Serverless lambdas.
In 2024 we are extending our platform to support more commodities, such as Crude Oil, Fuel Oil, LPG etc. As we’re still a young company, we have many pieces of basic infrastructure yet to be built! (Queue your arrival..)
Must Haves
- Significant experience with Java11+ in backend or mobile.
- Prior work on real-time systems such as ETLs, stock tickers, or videogames.
- Knowledge of cloud systems and distributed map/reduce operations.
- Proven English language communication skills that enable you to collaborate in a remote-first company with a diverse international workforce.
- Be able to occasionally travel to a central hub for collaborative meetings and coordination.
Bonus Points
- Projects in other backend technologies such as Typescript, Python, or Scala.
- Knowledge of Spring Boot and Micronaut.
- Experience with AWS technologies such as Fargate, API Gateway, or Lambda.
- SQL with Postgres, MySQL, or similar.
- NoSQL with DynamoDB, Mongo, or similar.
- Maintenance of distributed queues and event buses such as RabbitMQ. Kafka or Kinesis.
