Job Description

Our mission

Climate change is causing deep uncertainty at all levels of society, with climate volatility reducing the security of all land-based assets and posing a multi-level security threat for the functioning of enterprises, societies, and governments.

Mitiga is a spinoff of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, which hosts MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe.

Mitiga's mission is firmly rooted in employing cutting-edge science and technology to mitigate the multifaceted risks posed by climate-driven perils. Our approach spans a spectrum of temporal scales, from real-time and annual forecasts to projections spanning the next century. This comprehensive perspective on risk, coupled with our capacity to transfer risks to capital markets via catastrophe bonds, positions us to significantly contribute to enhanced climate mitigation, resilience, and equity.

And we need you.

Requirements

Who you are

We’re looking for a super savvy research amp; development Project Coordinator to join our team! If you feel comfortable coordinating teams amp; deliverables and pride yourself on your communication skills, this could be the role for you!

First and foremost, you are excited about our mission and you don't need to know anything about natural hazard or climate change but should be excited to learn.

You will bring a strong grasp of project management good practices (previous experience in reporting public grants on a national amp; European level in English amp; Spanish, how to coordinate across teams, effective reporting, strong editorial skills etc), and a track record of translating those practices into action.

Just like us, you are willing to be hands-on and adapt as new proposals come our way. Our ideal candidate is passionate, curious, and obsessed with ensuring we are always driving value and the best experience for our partners.

We want you to join because you don't see roadblocks, you see opportunities to be at your best. You know that somehow, you and the rest of our team can figure anything out.

Your impact

Attention to detail is your motto: As a spin off of Spain’s National Research Centre, research amp; development are ingrained in our culture. You will work cross functionally and with various partners and research programs to ensure that we always on time in delivering top-quality impact to the projects in which we are involved. You always maintain the light touch that oversight and project coordination entails whilst maintaining a clear understanding of what is coming around the corner. You will act as referee to ensure that the deliverables you collect directly respond to the scope of work presented within the contract.

Numbers come easy: You have previous experience in financial reporting within public grants. You will be working directly with our finance department to ensure that all project expenses are recorded internally and reported correctly and support our team in putting initial forecasts together for any upcoming applications.

Communication is key: You are a bi-lingual professional who understands that communication comes in many forms. You will not be directly responsible for writing proposals or applications however, you are comfortable in editing the final deliverables to ensure that we maintain ‘one-voice’ throughout our deliverables. You are confident and comfortable in acting as a point of contact for various stakeholders and partners and understand that any problem can be solved with the correct approach.

Sprinkle your organisation fairy dust: by revising, contributing to and uploading various technical and financial reports. You have a knack for having everything under control and your superpower is translating and respecting designated timelines and roadmaps. You are happy to coordinate internally to ensure that everyone is up to date on the projects progress, bottlenecks and expected deliverables. And last but not least, you’ll set the line of excellence for Ramp;D best practices and priorities and ensure that these are upheld.

The past is not always in the past: You will take responsibility of reworking and reorganising legacy materials to ensure the team is not duplicating work. You will be able to identify and match previous projects to upcoming applications and act as the internal point of contact for all things research amp; development.

Diversity

A recent study shows that one in every 10 tech workers in Spain are women. Only 8% of all contracts in 2019 with people with disabilities were in technology and science. Meanwhile, 30% of LGTBIQ people in Spain do not come out in the workplace for fear of discrimination.

This is neither the world we want to live in nor the workplace we’re building.
